About our products

At Gabe International our commitment is to build long lasting, durable solid wood furniture, and this commitment is reflected in the beauty and strength of our furniture products. Our products is handmade completely by talented furniture craftsmen who lovingly pay great attention to each detail. Great care goes into choosing the finest hardwoods; preparing the wood; and hand-shaping, sanding, staining and rubbing these furniture masterpieces to perfection.

Each furniture item, true to the “Arts and Crafts idealism, is fashioned similar to a giant puzzle where every piece is meticulously cut and hand-crafted to fit together using the old craftsman joinery techniques of: dovetailing and doweled, keyed and pinned, mortise-and-tenon joints.

Our products are made solid teak wood, which has been purchased from Perum Perhutani, certified by the Indonesian Government to be plantation grown. Wood is selected for consistency of color within each piece of furniture and is free of voids, checks or major discoloration and kiln dried down to approximately 15 % moisture content.

The raw materials are given to subcontractors (furniture carpenters) who cut and shape the wood components and assembles into unfinished furniture. To assure the precision and good constrution we provide the subcontractor products drawings and measures. This drawing is created by our designer and drafters department with an approval by customer.

Quality control inspection is performed at the following points in the production process:

  • During construction in the subcontractor’s facility, our quality inspection team makes unannounced inspection visits to check that our raw material is used in component fabrication. Visits are made at least twice weekly.
  • First comprehensive inspection is made when the assembled goods arrive in the unfinished furniture warehouse. Items are checking for construction strength, joinery, and moisture contents. Accepted items are passed to the finishing department.
  • Final inspection and grade selection is made before packing; serial number tags are attached to the goods and entered into a database for future tracking for customer feedback.
